2021 Summer Internship Program--Legal
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Law Student Intern, you will assist in providing the DIA leadership and staff directorates with sound and timely legal advice and representation on all aspects of the Agency's worldwide intelligence mission, promoting the efficiency and effectiveness of the DIA Enterprise programs and operations, while ensuring compliance with law, regulations, and policies. Internships vary according to the office in which the intern is working but duties may include (but are not limited to):
• Provide legal support to the Office of the General Counsel and/or the Office of the Inspector General
• Conduct legal research and writing
• Attend meetings and other events as the Office of the General Counsel Representative
• Brief OGC, DIA, and DIA leaders on legal issues and topics
• Promote the efficiency and effectiveness of DIA programs
• Perform other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Applicant must be a currently-enrolled J.D. student at an ABA accredited law school at the time of application and have completed at least two semesters of law school at the start of the internship.
• A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent and successful academic performance at the time of application and throughout the internship is required.
• If your law school does not provide grades, please disregard the GPA field in the “Add Degree” section of the application.
• Meet the Agency’s conditions of employment. A final offer of employment will not be extended until all conditions of employment have been successfully met. Please note that the special security background investigation, counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, psychological assessment and drug testing cannot be conducted if candidates are residing outside the continental United States. Therefore, candidates should not apply to this program if they are studying or working abroad 3-9 months prior to May 2021.
